Duration: 12 month renewable contract (approx 5 year project duration)

Managing engineering department on site and providing the interface with the project engineering offices in Canada and London
Experienced Engineering Superintendent, preferably with mining/materials handling experience. Qualified Mechanical Engineer but suitably qualified Civil or Electrical engineers with relevant experience
15 plus years‘ experience.
Engineering Superintendent reports by line to the Mine Project Director and functionally to the Mine Engineering Manager and will have a daily / strong collaborative relationship with the Construction Director.
To represent the Engineering Department on site with focus on all matters pertaining to site engineering and quality control. To assist the Area Superintendents by providing the technical support required in respect of the quality, costs and the schedule objectives.
Functional responsibility of inspectors, quality control personnel and drafts-persons in respect of inspection, quality control and engineering.
To ensure the implementation of the Quality programme on site, in line with SLE Project Procedures and includes the propagation of non-conformances, site engineering queries, and concessions.
Supervision and co-ordination of soil testing laboratory to ensure the quality assurance aspects of the SLE quality programme is implemented.
Supervise the independent Geotechnical Consultants and Road Consultants at site.
Manage document control services.
To maintain a liaison with the home office respective discipline engineer for the interpretation of drawings and specifications and resolution of any site variations required due to the site conditions.
Co-ordinate with authorities concerning drawing approvals, permits, acceptance and “as built” documentation submitted.
Control of close-out punch lists prior to handover.
Ensure correctness of as-built information and the recording thereof.
To ensure that the Contractors received assistance from the proper interpretation of the technical documents.
To advise the home office engineering of site variations required to eliminate site interfaces. To propose resolutions, obtain approvals and issue site sketches and as-built drawings for modifications required.
To attend Contractors "Kick-off" meetings to ensure correct induction of the contractor to the relevant procedures.
To carry out final inspections and prepare punch list reports for acceptance of work and handover to other Contractors or Employer.
To establish and maintain standards of performances with personnel reporting to him. Analyse continuously results, recognise achievements, detect unsatisfactory trends or developments at an early stage and initiate remedial action promptly.
To ensure that the Construction completes and submits all required documents following completion of work.
Reports directly to the Construction Manager.
Develop and maintain operational relationships within the Engineering Department.
Maintains a co-operative relationships with other site departments.
Prepare a weekly and monthly engineering, reports.
